Overview
A Storage Type is defined based on the space or area occupied by a product or item, such as:
- High Rack Storage
- Bulk Storage
- Shelf Storage
- Open Storage
- Goods Receipt Area
The purpose of the storage type is to categorize storage areas for different types of materials within a warehouse.
Steps to Create a Storage Type
- Go to the Warehouse Master module.
- Click on the Storage Type submodule.
- Click on the +Storage Type button to create a new storage type.
- After clicking on the +Storage Type button, a form will load. Enter the required details:
- Code: Ensure that the code is unique.
- Warehouse Zones: Select the zone where the
storage type will be assigned. - Storage Type: Choose the appropriate type (e.g., Bulk Storage, Shelf Storage).
- Operating Unit: Assign the operating unit.
- Storage Section: Fill in the necessary details for the storage section.
- Click on the Save button to create the storage type.
Warehouse Zones
A Warehouse Zone is a physically or logically segregated area within a warehouse. It can be defined based on:
- The type of material it contains (e.g., bulk storage, rack storage, hazardous materials).
- The division of equipment and personnel used for activities like put-away, movement, and picking.
Managing Created Storage Types
Once storage types are created, you can manage them as follows:
- Edit: Click on the three dots next to the storage type name and select Edit to modify the details.
- Filter: Use the Filter button icon to quickly find specific storage types.
- Export: Click on export button to export data.
